Medical Plans
Two medical plan options are offered through the SC Employee Insurance Program (EIP). One is the Standard Plan and the other is the Savings Plan. The main difference between the plans is the amount you will pay for premiums, deductibles, co-payments for office and emergency care visits, and co-insurance (your share of the cost for healthcare services).
Dental Plans
Two plans are available: State Dental Plan and Dental Plus. BJHCHS Inc provides State Dental Plan for active employees only. State Dental plan offers diagnostic and preventive, basic, prosthodontics and orthodontics. The Dental Plus Plan covers the same services as the State Dental Plan except orthodontics. However, the Dental Plus plan offers $1000.00 additional allowance for covered services.
Vision Benefits
This benefit is included with all of the available medical plans. The plan offers benefits for visits to an ophthalmologist only. No benefits are paid for glasses.
Money Plus Accounts
With MONEYPLU$, you elect to contribute an annual amount from your salary to be deducted from your paycheck, before taxes, to pay your eligible medical and dependent care expenses. As you incur eligible expenses during the plan year, you request reimbursement from FBMC. MONEYPLU$ offers a Medical Spending Account, Dependent Care Account and Health Savings Account.
Basic Life
The agency provides $3000.00 basic life insurance for full-time employees who are enrolled in one of the medical plans. Dependent and spouse life insurance is designed to help you and your family handle unexpected expenses as a result of an untimely loss of your spouse or child. Coverage must be elected and paid for by the employee.
Optional Life
EIP has optional life insurance available to supplement basic life coverage.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
Should you become unable to work for an extended period of time because of sickness or injury, long-term disability (LTD) insurance replaces part of your pay, so you and your family have a steady source of income until you can return to work. This benefit is provided at no cost for employees actively enrolled in the State Health program.
Pension Plans
Our 401(k) and 457 plans enables you to save for retirement and enjoy a tax break at the same time. Your contribution may be made on a pre-tax basis through payroll deduction.
Military Pay
A military leave of absence shall be granted for a two week period of military duty/deployment during a time of engagement. Employees should provide advance notice if possible and provide a copy of Official Orders. If a difference between military pay and employee pay exists, the difference shall be reimbursed to the employee.

Employees are eligible if they have worked for their employer for at least one year, and for 1,250 hours over the previous 12 months.
